All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams combined during the first quarter of the North Carolina vs Duke college football game scheduled for October 17, 2026. For any market, if the combined score exceeds the specified threshold (e.g., 2.5, 5.5, up to 27.5 points), the market resolves to 'Yes.' If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the market remains open and resolves based on the actual result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored in the first quarter count toward these outcomes.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to trade based on their own analysis. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Polls and analysts’ predictions can also vary, offering another point of comparison to the collective forecast represented by the current price.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction format, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the outcome. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price will adjust accordingly, providing a real-time assessment of expectations. The market is driven entirely by supply and demand from traders.
This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Traders will be able to see the final result and whether their predictions were correct shortly after the game concludes.
Several signals could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the North Carolina or Duke team would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they affect the style of play, could also move the market. Additionally, late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions might influence trader sentiment. Overall team performance in recent games and any public statements from coaches or players could also contribute to price fluctuations.
