Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge for several reasons. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has its own user base, trading rules, and liquidity, which can all influence price discovery. For example, different levels of participation from sophisticated traders or varying risk appetites can lead to differing valuations. Furthermore, the specific contract types offered – such as spread markets on Kalshi versus simple win/loss outcomes on Polymarket – contribute to price discrepancies. These differences aren't necessarily contradictions but rather reflect the unique dynamics of each platform.
