Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, incorporating a profit margin, while this market’s prices are driven purely by traders’ willingness to buy or sell. If a significant number of people believe a particular exact score is more likely than implied by sportsbook odds, we’ll see the price for that outcome increase here. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts leading up to the event.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders can buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible exact score. The price of each share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who buy shares in a specific outcome, the higher its price will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the crowd and provides a real-time assessment of the event's potential results.
