Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities, especially when there's strong public sentiment or information asymmetry. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on statistical models, this market’s pricing is driven by the collective wisdom of traders, potentially revealing insights not captured by conventional methods.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about which team will score first in the NK Osijek vs. NK Istra match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The closer the match gets, the more responsive the price will be to new information and changing sentiment. This dynamic pricing reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team—NK Osijek or NK Istra 1961—scores the first goal in the match. Official match records will serve as the definitive source for determining the winning outcome. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on their holdings in the shares representing the correct prediction.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding team lineups, injuries to key players, or changes in coaching strategies could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even pre-match analysis from reputable sports commentators, could also play a role. Furthermore, significant betting activity on traditional sportsbooks might attract attention and influence trading behavior on Polymarket. A late-breaking announcement about a player suspension could have a particularly strong effect.
