Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs. If a significant number of people believe one team is more likely to score first, the price of shares representing that outcome will rise, potentially exceeding sportsbook implied probabilities. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges and influences traders’ assessments.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing each possible outcome – in this case, either Gotham FC or Angel City FC scoring first. The price of each share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to reflect changing sentiment and new information, providing a dynamic assessment of the likelihood of each team taking the early lead.

This market resolves around Oct 4, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the Gotham FC vs. Angel City FC match. The official match records will serve as the definitive source for determining the winning outcome. Any disputes regarding the outcome will be assessed based on widely accepted sports reporting and official league data, ensuring a fair and transparent resolution process.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Late-breaking news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Gotham FC or Angel City FC would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments, or even weather conditions could also affect traders’ perceptions of each team’s chances. Furthermore, any pre-match analysis from respected sports commentators or analysts could sway sentiment and lead to increased trading volume in one direction or the other.
