Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs. If a significant number of people believe a sportsbook is underrating or overrating a player’s chances, the prediction market odds will adjust accordingly. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before a lot of information becomes available or when there’s strong public sentiment surrounding an event.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more trades occur, the price adjusts to incorporate new information and changing opinions. This creates a dynamic and real-time assessment of the likely winner of the Kudermetova vs Sawangkaew match, driven entirely by user activity.
