Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often converging towards probabilities that differ from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows traders to express their own independent assessments. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook’s odds are inaccurate, they can take the opposite position, driving the price on Polymarket towards what they perceive as the true probability. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the players’ form and potential.
