Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on models and risk management, while this market represents a crowd-sourced assessment of the likely outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially when public opinion strongly deviates from the sportsbook's initial assessment. Analyzing these differences can provide insights into where the market believes sportsbooks may be mispricing the probability of a particular result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the aggregated sentiment. This dynamic pricing means the odds can shift rapidly based on new information or changes in market perception regarding the Ningbo doubles match.
