Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook is mispricing a team’s chances, we may see divergence in the odds. It’s common to see prediction markets, like this one, offer more accurate probabilities, especially as the event approaches and more information becomes available. Keep in mind that sportsbook odds are designed to generate profit for the bookmaker, whereas this market aims to reflect true probabilities.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether a specific outcome will occur. As more shares are traded, the price of each share adjusts to reflect the collective probability assigned to that outcome by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome happening. For example, a share priced at 60 means there's a 60% implied probability of that outcome occurring, according to the traders on Polymarket.

This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team scores the first goal in the second half of the Newcastle United FC vs. Aston Villa FC match. The resolution will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final result. It’s important to monitor the event closely as Oct 17, 2026 approaches to understand potential catalysts that could influence the market.

Several signals could significantly move this market before Oct 17, 2026. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Newcastle United or Aston Villa would likely impact the odds.
