Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, which can differ from sportsbook odds set by professionals. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like public betting percentages and risk management into their lines, while this market relies purely on individuals' beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Examining both sources can provide a more comprehensive understanding of potential outcomes for the New York J vs Chicago match.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the market’s current assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the evolving consensus. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Price movements are driven by supply and demand; if many traders believe an outcome is likely, they will bid up the price of contracts representing that outcome, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing mechanism aims to provide a real-time estimate of the event’s probabilities.
