This market determines which team or special condition will score the first touchdown in an upcoming football game between the New York Giants and the Washington Commanders. It allows participants to speculate on whether the first points will come from either team's defense or if no touchdown will be scored at all.
The market resolves based on which participant—either the Washington Commanders defense, the New York Giants defense, or No Touchdown—scores the first touchdown in the game originally scheduled for October 11, 2026. If a selected defense is active but does not take any snaps, the market settles at the fair market price determined before the game starts. Once a team takes a snap, even if the play is nullified by a penalty, the outcome is determined by whether that participant scores the first touchdown. Should no touchdowns be scored during the game, the No Touchdown market resolves to Yes, and all other markets resolve to No.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines which can be influenced by factors like public perception or promotional offers. Sportsbooks often set lines to attract balanced betting, while this market aims to reflect the true probability of each player scoring first. Over time, prediction market prices tend to be more accurate forecasts than traditional odds, as they incorporate a wider range of information and are continuously updated based on trader activity. However, sportsbook odds can still offer value, especially if they diverge significantly from this market.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing each player, and the price of each contract reflects the market’s assessment of that player’s probability of scoring the first touchdown. As more traders buy a contract, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price is determined solely by supply and demand within the Kalshi exchange, and there are no external factors influencing the pricing mechanism. This dynamic pricing allows for real-time adjustments based on new information and changing sentiment.
This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the player who scores the first touchdown in the game between New York G and Washington will determine the outcome. The resolution will be based on official game statistics and verified against credible public sources. Any disputes regarding the outcome will be handled according to Kalshi’s standard procedures, ensuring a fair and transparent resolution process for all participants in this market.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. News regarding player injuries, changes in weather conditions, or even strategic adjustments announced by either team could all shift probabilities. A key player being ruled out would likely increase the chances of other players, causing their contract prices to rise. Pre-game analysis from sports analysts and updated betting lines from sportsbooks may also influence trader behavior. Unexpected developments during warm-ups, such as a player appearing limited or not participating, could also trigger rapid price movements in this market.
