Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has its own user base, trading fees, and liquidity, which can influence price discovery. Furthermore, different market structures – for example, one platform might offer a spread market while the other focuses on a simple win/loss outcome – can also contribute to price discrepancies. The volume of trading on each platform also plays a role; higher volume generally leads to tighter spreads and more efficient pricing for this market.
Several signals could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching strategies, or unexpected team performance could significantly impact the perceived probabilities. Public sentiment, as reflected in social media and sports news, can also play a role. Major upsets in related games or shifts in betting patterns on traditional sportsbooks could also prompt traders on Polymarket and Kalshi to reassess their positions, leading to price movements.
