Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, incorporating a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders expressing their beliefs about the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. However, it's important to note that sportsbooks and this market have different user bases and information sources, leading to natural variations in pricing.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the likelihood of either the Revolution or the Sounders scoring first. The current volume traded provides insight into the level of interest and conviction surrounding each potential outcome.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on which team, the New England Revolution or the Seattle Sounders FC, scores the first goal in the match. The official match records will be used to determine the winning outcome. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final market price at the time of resolution.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Late-breaking news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either the Revolution or the Sounders would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they favor one team's playing style, could also impact trading activity. Additionally, any significant shifts in public sentiment, perhaps driven by expert analysis or pre-match polls, could lead to traders adjusting their positions and altering the market price.
