Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. As a result, prediction markets can sometimes offer more accurate probabilities, especially as the event approaches and more information surfaces. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information, biases, or simply the dynamics of how each type of market operates.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes. The price of each share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the share price will climb. Conversely, if sentiment shifts, the price will adjust accordingly. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of those trading on the platform, creating a real-time probability assessment.

This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the second half of the NEC vs. Fortuna Sittard match. The platform will verify the result against official sources to ensure accuracy and transparency. Traders who correctly predicted the outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final share price at the time of resolution. Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding team lineups, injuries to key players on either NEC or Fortuna Sittard, or changes in weather conditions could all shift market sentiment. Furthermore, general football news and analysis from reputable sources can impact how traders assess the probabilities, driving volume and price fluctuations until the market resolves.
