Description

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed team is determined as the champion of the NBA for the 2026-27 season. Otherwise, it will resolve to "No". If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed participant to be named as the champion of NBA for the 2026-27 season per the rules of NBA (e.g., participant is eliminated), the corresponding market will resolve to "No". If multiple teams are declared winners, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically. If this event is cancelled, postponed after June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or a champion has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source will be official information from the NBA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the NBA championship race tracks real-time odds and price movements for each team's chances of winning the 2027 title. You can monitor historical price data to see how trader sentiment has shifted throughout the season, follow 24-hour volume metrics to gauge market activity and liquidity, and compare relative probabilities across all contenders. This live tracking helps you identify which teams are gaining or losing confidence among prediction market participants, offering a dynamic alternative to traditional sportsbook lines and preseason forecasts.

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets are driven by trader consensus and real money at stake. This market aggregates thousands of individual forecasts, which can surface information faster than traditional oddsmakers adjust their lines. Over time, prediction market prices tend to converge toward actual outcomes, making them a useful benchmark for comparing against published betting odds and identifying potential value discrepancies.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time probabilities for each team. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices move continuously as new money enters or exits positions, with each team's contract reflecting the collective belief about its championship odds. Higher-priced contracts indicate stronger confidence, while lower prices suggest skepticism. Liquidity and trading volume directly influence how quickly prices adjust to new information, so markets with deeper order books typically show tighter spreads and faster price discovery.

This market resolves around Jun 19, 2027, once the 2027 NBA Finals conclude and the champion is crowned. The outcome is confirmed against credible public reporting from the NBA and major sports news outlets. At that point, the contract corresponding to the winning team pays out in full, while all other team contracts expire worthless. Resolution is straightforward and verifiable, leaving no ambiguity about which team clinched the title.

Major injuries to star players, trades during the offseason or deadline, coaching changes, and playoff performance all drive significant price swings. Regular season momentum—winning or losing streaks, strength of schedule results—shifts trader conviction week to week. Draft outcomes and free agency signings reshape team rosters and contention odds. Unexpected roster moves, trades involving franchise players, and emerging young talent can rapidly reprrice favorites and long shots. Real-time injury reports and team chemistry developments throughout the season create continuous opportunities for traders to reassess championship probabilities.
