Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi for the Montevallo vs. Samford game can diverge for several reasons. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts a different user base with varying levels of expertise and access to information. Trading volume also plays a role; a market with higher volume on one platform tends to have more stable and efficient pricing. Furthermore, the specific mechanisms for price discovery – how traders can buy and sell predictions – can differ between the two venues, leading to temporary discrepancies in the perceived probabilities of each outcome.
