Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a more accurate forecast than traditional sportsbook odds, as they aggregate the wisdom of the crowd. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market is driven purely by participants’ beliefs about the outcome. However, discrepancies can occur due to differing levels of information, biases, or simply variations in opinion. It’s common to see this market move independently of sportsbook lines, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts leading up to the event.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. As more people buy contracts predicting a particular result, the price increases, and vice versa. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust its predictions accordingly, providing a real-time assessment of the game’s potential results.
