Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets aim to represent the true probabilities as assessed by traders. Therefore, you might observe differences between the implied probabilities on Polymarket and those offered by sportsbooks. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks in accuracy, especially when there is significant public interest and trading volume in this market.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective wisdom of the crowd. Higher demand for shares in a particular outcome will drive up its price, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic pricing system for the MODUS Super Series darts match.
