Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring profitability, while this market allows traders to directly assess probabilities. If a large number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, they can drive the price on Polymarket to reflect their collective assessment. This can result in discrepancies between the two, potentially offering arbitrage opportunities for informed traders. It's important to note that prediction markets benefit from the wisdom of the crowd, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, reflecting their collective expectations for the MODUS Super Series darts match. This dynamic pricing ensures the market stays responsive to new information and changing sentiment.
