Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance their risk and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the two, it could indicate that the market believes the sportsbook is mispricing the event. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different methodologies and information sources. Examining both can provide a more comprehensive understanding of potential outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the evolving consensus. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated and responsive to changing conditions. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket.

Ultimately, any information that alters the perceived probability of either player winning will likely cause movement in this market.
