Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook’s odds are inaccurate, they can influence the price on Polymarket, potentially creating a divergence. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks, especially when information isn't widely available or is subject to bias.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the MODUS Super Series darts match. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by the collective actions of all traders on the platform. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date information and insights.

Several factors could influence trading activity and move this market before resolution. Any news regarding the players’ form, potential injuries, or changes in their playing style could impact the perceived probabilities. Unexpected upsets in other darts matches featuring these players could also shift sentiment. Furthermore, significant trading volume from informed bettors or large groups could cause noticeable price movements.
