Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of bettors, and can sometimes differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market relies on the aggregated predictions of individuals. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply variations in how each entity assesses the probabilities. It's common to see this market move independently of sportsbook lines, especially as new information becomes available or public sentiment shifts.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand for shares on Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or a central authority setting the odds.
