Description

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the greatest number of innings played in any single game of the 2026 MLB Postseason equals or exceeds the listed number. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A game counts at the number of innings in which play occurred, as recorded by MLB in the official box score. A game that ends in the bottom of its final inning counts at that inning number, even though that inning was not completed. A suspended game that is later resumed and completed counts as a single game at its final inning total. A game that is shortened or called before completion counts at the last inning completed. Only games in 2026 MLB Postseason games will count toward this market. The 2026 MLB Postseason comprises the Wild Card Series, the Division Series, the League Championship Series, and the World Series. Regular season games, exhibition games, and any tiebreaker or "Game 163" will not be considered part of the 2026 MLB Postseason. If the 2026 MLB Postseason is cancelled, or the World Series has not concluded by November 15, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be official information from MLB; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like public betting biases or promotional offers, whereas this market relies on individuals directly putting their capital behind their beliefs. It's common to see discrepancies, especially early in the market, as prediction markets can quickly adjust to new information and differing viewpoints. Comparing the two can provide a more comprehensive understanding of potential outcomes for the MLB postseason.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of different outcomes. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the MLB postseason's potential length. The current volume traded indicates the level of interest and conviction surrounding the various possibilities, providing a real-time gauge of market sentiment.

This market resolves around Nov 16, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official length of the MLB postseason, as determined by the completion of the World Series. The longest game will be identified based on the total number of innings played. The market will settle to 100% for the outcome that accurately reflects the actual length of the postseason, as verified by official MLB records and widely available sports news sources.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Unexpected injuries to key players on contending teams, upsets in early playoff series, or even weather delays could all shift the perceived probabilities. Major news regarding pitching rotations or offensive slumps could also influence trading activity. As the postseason progresses and more games are played, the market will likely become more sensitive to game results and emerging trends. Any developments that alter expectations about the competitive balance or potential for long, drawn-out series could lead to substantial price movements.
