If the 2026 MLB Playoffs are cancelled, postponed after October 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET or the NLCS matchups have not been declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “No”. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the MLB (https://www.mlb.com/); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Generally, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can sometimes differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs, potentially leading to a more accurate forecast as new information emerges. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially early in the market, as prediction markets aggregate diverse opinions and adjust rapidly to news and events. However, as the event nears, the odds on Polymarket often converge with those found at major sportsbooks.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each team’s chance of advancing to the NLCS. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. As more people buy shares in a particular team, the price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price movements are driven entirely by supply and demand from traders on Polymarket, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of probabilities.
This market resolves around Oct 15, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will resolve based on which teams actually advance to the NLCS following the conclusion of the NLDS series in the 2026 MLB Playoffs. The result will be determined by official MLB standings and game results, as reported by major sports news outlets. The outcome of this market is based on the actual results of the baseball games played, not on any pre-game predictions or analyses.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Player injuries to key performers on any of the contending teams would likely cause shifts in the odds. Unexpected team performance during the regular season, particularly strong or weak showings against potential playoff opponents, could also influence trading activity. Major trades acquiring or releasing impactful players could also move the market. Finally, any news regarding team strategy, managerial changes, or even weather forecasts affecting potential playoff games could all contribute to fluctuations in the odds on Polymarket.
