The 2026 MLB Playoffs American League Championship Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians is a best-of-seven series, won by the first team to win four games. Each market in this event names a number of games. If the series is completed, a market will resolve to "Yes" if at least its listed number of games were played and to "No" otherwise (the "7 games" market resolves to "Yes" only if all seven games were played). Each completed game of the series counts once, including a game that is suspended and later resumed. If the series is not completed by November 3, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, for any reason, including cancellation of the 2026 MLB Playoffs, a market will resolve to "Yes" if, at that time, it is no longer possible for the series to be completed in fewer games than its listed number. Otherwise, it will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from MLB; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Typically, prediction market odds reflect a ‘wisdom of the crowd’ perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action, while this market represents what traders believe is the true probability of each outcome. Early on, you might see discrepancies as sportsbooks account for public bias or team narratives. As the series progresses and more information becomes available, the odds on Polymarket tend to converge with those found at sportsbooks, though differences can still arise due to varying levels of market efficiency and information access.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible series length. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the series’ likely duration. The market’s depth – the number of shares available at different price points – also indicates the level of confidence in each outcome. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to new information.
This market resolves around Oct 21, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the total number of games played in the Rays-Guardians MLB playoff series is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on official MLB game results. The market will determine which outcome – the total number of games played – was the correct one based on the actual series result. Traders who accurately predicted the series length will be rewarded based on their shareholdings at the time of resolution.
Several factors could significantly shift the odds in this market. Unexpected injuries to key players on either the Rays or the Guardians would undoubtedly impact the perceived series length. Game results themselves will be the most influential factor, with each win or loss altering the probabilities. Weather conditions, particularly if a game is postponed or played in unfavorable circumstances, could also play a role. Furthermore, any news regarding team strategy or pitching rotations could influence trader sentiment and lead to price movements on Polymarket.
