Description

Each market in this event names a team and a number of home runs. This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed team hits the listed number of home runs or more in total across all games of the 2026 MLB Playoffs American League Championship Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Only home runs credited to listed team batters in the official box score of each completed game count, including inside-the-park home runs and home runs hit in extra innings. A game that is postponed or suspended counts once it has been completed. Official scoring changes announced by MLB within 24 hours of the end of the relevant game will be considered, but later changes will not. This market will resolve to "Yes" as soon as the listed team reaches the listed number of home runs in the series. If the series is not completed by November 3, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, for any reason, including cancellation of the 2026 MLB Playoffs, this market will resolve based on the games of the series completed by that time: "Yes" if the listed team has hit the listed number of home runs or more in those games, and otherwise "No". A game that has been suspended and not completed by that time will not count. The resolution source for this market will be official information from MLB, including official box scores; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Rays-Guardians home run market tracks the current odds, price history, and 24-hour trading volume. You can see how the implied probability of different outcomes changes over time, as well as the total volume traded in this market, currently at $1,449 with $604 traded in the last 24 hours. This provides a real-time view of where traders are placing their bets on the total home runs hit by each team in the MLB Playoff game.

Generally, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can sometimes differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for a profit margin, whereas this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs. If a significant number of people believe a particular outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will shift accordingly. It's common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast probabilities, especially when there's strong public interest and active trading.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the total home runs scored by each team. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, the price of those shares increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movement is a direct result of supply and demand, with traders essentially betting against each other. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust expectations.

This market resolves around Oct 21, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The total number of home runs hit by both the Rays and the Guardians in the official MLB Playoff game will be used to determine the winning outcome. The official MLB statistics will serve as the source for verifying the final home run totals. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final result.

Several factors could influence trading activity and move this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or changes to the starting lineups for either the Rays or the Guardians would likely have a significant impact. Weather forecasts, particularly if they predict conditions favorable or unfavorable for hitting, could also shift the odds. Furthermore, late-breaking analysis from baseball experts or shifts in public sentiment could all contribute to changes in the price of shares on Polymarket as traders react to new information.
