The 2026 MLB Playoffs American League Championship Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians is a best-of-seven series, won by the first team to win four games. Each market in this event is listed as a team and a series spread of -1.5, -2.5 or -3.5 games (for example, "Rays (-1.5)"). Each market has two outcomes rather than "Yes" and "No": the named team with that spread (for example, "Rays -1.5") and the other team with the opposite spread (for example, "Guardians +1.5"). A -1.5 spread is covered if the named team wins the series 4-0, 4-1 or 4-2, a -2.5 spread is covered if the named team wins the series 4-0 or 4-1, and a -3.5 spread is covered if the named team wins the series 4-0. If the series is completed, each market will resolve to the named team's outcome if its spread is covered and to the other team's outcome if it is not. If the series is not completed by November 3, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, for any reason, including cancellation of the 2026 MLB Playoffs, a market will resolve to the other team's outcome if the other team has already won enough games that the named team can no longer cover the spread (3 games against a -1.5 spread, 2 games against a -2.5 spread, 1 game against a -3.5 spread). Otherwise, it will resolve to 50-50. Only games completed by that time will be counted. The resolution source for this market will be official information from MLB; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often incorporating information and analysis that may not be immediately priced into traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market allows anyone to express their view, potentially leading to differing probabilities. It’s common to see initial discrepancies, with this market sometimes adjusting more rapidly to news or changing circumstances than traditional betting venues. However, as the event approaches, the odds on Polymarket tend to converge with sportsbook lines, though differences can still persist.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of each share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares purchased for a given outcome, the higher its price rises, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades are rewarded.
This market resolves around Oct 21, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the MLB Playoffs series between the Rays and the Guardians, specifically which team wins the series. The result will be determined by the official MLB standings and game results. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final outcome of the series and their positions in this market.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Rays or the Guardians would likely cause a shift in the odds. Unexpected pitching changes, weather forecasts affecting game schedules, or even significant performance fluctuations during the series could all move the market. Additionally, major analytical reports questioning a team’s strategy or a player’s form could influence trader sentiment. Overall, any information that alters perceptions of each team’s chances of winning the series has the potential to move this market.
