The 2026 MLB Playoffs American League Division Series between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox is a best-of-five series, won by the first team to win three games. Each market in this event has a listed line of 3.5 or 4.5 games. If the series is completed, each market will resolve to "Over" if more games were played than its listed line and to "Under" otherwise. Each completed game of the series counts once, including a game that is suspended and later resumed. If the series is not completed by October 24, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, for any reason, including cancellation of the 2026 MLB Playoffs, a market will resolve to "Over" if, at that time, it is no longer possible for the series to be completed in fewer games than its listed line. Otherwise, it will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from MLB; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set their lines based on models and a desire to balance action, while this market is driven purely by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially early in the market, as prediction markets tend to incorporate information and adjust rapidly to news and analysis. Examining these differences can provide valuable insight into public perception versus professional analysis.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares indicating 'over', the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the collective forecast of all participants trading on Polymarket and is a dynamic indicator of expectations for the series length.
This market resolves around Oct 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the total number of games played in the MLB Playoffs series between the Guardians and the White Sox. The final result will be sourced from official MLB records and widely available sports news outlets. The market will settle to 100% for the correct outcome (over or under the specified number of games).
Several factors could significantly influence this market. Unexpected injuries to key players on either team, such as a starting pitcher or a crucial hitter, would likely cause a shift in the odds. Any news regarding pitching matchups or changes in team strategy could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, the performance of the teams in their preceding games and any late-breaking news about weather conditions affecting the series could all contribute to movement in this market before it resolves.
