Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to profit from margins, while this market is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. However, it's important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different methodologies and information sources.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Málaga or Real Sociedad will score first in the first half. As more shares are purchased for one outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by the collective actions of all traders participating in the market. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds remain responsive to new information and changing sentiment.

This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team, if any, scores the first goal during the first half of the Málaga CF versus Real Sociedad de Fútbol match. If neither team scores during the first half, the market will resolve in favor of 'No Goal Scored'. The official match records will serve as the definitive source for determining the winning outcome of this market.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Málaga or Real Sociedad would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments, or even weather conditions on match day could also shift trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements about starting lineups or pre-match analysis from reputable sports analysts could also cause fluctuations in the odds. Monitoring these signals will be crucial for anyone looking to trade in this market.
