This set of markets tracks how many points each team will score in an upcoming college football game, allowing participants to speculate on various scoring thresholds for both teams.
All markets resolve based on the official final point totals of Mississippi State and Texas in their college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. For each market, if the specified team scores over the designated point threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the markets remain open and resolve according to the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi disclaims any affiliation with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and to balance action, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a particular outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the price of contracts predicting that outcome will rise, potentially offering better value than what’s available at a sportsbook. However, these differences aren’t always substantial, and both can be valuable sources of information.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts. The price of a contract represents the probability of the event occurring, scaled to a price between 0 and 100. As more people buy contracts predicting a certain team total, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective predictions of all participants. This creates a real-time assessment of the likelihood of different outcomes for the Mississippi State vs Texas game.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final team totals from the Mississippi State vs Texas game are verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official statistics published by the governing body of college football. The market will determine which side – Mississippi State or Texas – had a team total that matched the contract's prediction, and payouts will be made accordingly to contract holders. It's important to monitor the game’s progress as it nears the resolution date.
Several factors could influence this market before it resolves. News regarding key player injuries for either Mississippi State or Texas would likely have a significant impact, shifting expectations about their offensive capabilities. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if severe weather is predicted, could also move the market, as weather conditions often affect scoring. Finally, any late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions could also influence traders’ predictions and cause the price of contracts to fluctuate. Monitoring these signals is crucial for informed trading.
