This market focuses on determining which team will score more points specifically in the second half of the Mississippi State vs. LSU college football game scheduled for October 17, 2026. It considers only the points scored after halftime, including any overtime periods during the second half.
The market resolves based on which team scores more points in the second half (including overtime) of the designated college football game. If LSU scores more second-half points, the market resolves to Yes for LSU. If Mississippi State scores more second-half points, the market resolves to Yes for Mississippi State. If both teams score an equal number of points in the second half, the market resolves to Yes for the Tie outcome. Postponements are handled such that if the game starts within 48 hours of its original time, the market remains open and resolves based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the market resolves to a fair price. All outcomes are determined solely by second-half scoring, with no consideration given to the first half or overall game result.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own information and beliefs. If a significant number of people believe one team is more likely to win the second half than sportsbooks suggest, the price will move accordingly, potentially offering value to informed traders. It's common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome—Mississippi St. winning the second half or LSU winning the second half. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the traders. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and exchange contracts, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the likely winner. The closer we get to the event, the more the prices will likely converge towards the true probability, though unexpected news can cause volatility.
This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The team leading at the end of the second half of the Mississippi St. vs LSU game will be declared the winner of this market. The final score will be sourced from official game statistics and sports news outlets to determine the winning team. Traders will then be able to claim their payouts based on the final result and their positions in the market.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before the game concludes. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Mississippi St. or LSU would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they favor one team’s playing style, could also impact trading activity. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team morale might also shift perceptions. Finally, even public sentiment and betting trends observed elsewhere could influence traders on Kalshi and move the market.
