This set of markets focuses on predicting the point differential in the second half of a college football game between Mississippi State and LSU. Each market corresponds to a specific margin of victory, allowing participants to assess how decisively one team might outperform the other after halftime.
All markets resolve based solely on points scored during the second half (including overtime) of the designated game. If LSU achieves a winning margin exceeding the specified threshold in any of the markets labeled 'LSU wins by over X.X points,' that market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. Conversely, if Mississippi State secures a victory surpassing the stated margin in markets titled 'Mississippi St. wins by over X.X points,' those markets resolve to Yes, else No. Should the game be postponed but commence within 48 hours of its original schedule, all markets remain active and resolve per the final official result. If play does not begin within this 48-hour window, all markets settle at a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on their own models and risk assessments, while this market’s pricing is driven by individuals trading based on their own information and beliefs. Often, prediction markets are considered more accurate than traditional polls or expert opinions, as traders have a financial incentive to be correct. However, sportsbook odds are readily available and widely publicized, providing a useful benchmark for comparison against the pricing seen in this market.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that spread occurring. As more traders buy contracts for a particular spread, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived likelihood of that outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts as new information becomes available and traders update their expectations. This creates a real-time assessment of the likely second-half spread, based on the collective intelligence of the traders participating in this market.
This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the final point spread of the second half of the Mississippi State versus LSU game will be used to determine which contracts settle at 100. Contracts representing spreads closer to the actual result will have a higher payout. The resolution will be based on official game statistics and will be publicly available following the conclusion of the game, ensuring a transparent and verifiable outcome for this market.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the LSU or Mississippi State teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions that favor one team’s style of play, could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, late-breaking news about coaching strategies or team morale might prompt traders to adjust their positions. Public perception, as reflected in media coverage and social media sentiment, can also contribute to shifts in this market’s pricing.
