This set of markets tracks how many touchdowns are scored through receptions by each team in an upcoming college football matchup. The outcomes depend on whether specific players achieve certain thresholds of receiving touchdowns during the game.
These markets resolve based on the total number of receiving touchdowns scored by Minnesota and Purdue in their college football game scheduled for October 10, 2026. A receiving touchdown is counted when a player catches the ball and scores without another player recovering a fumble for the score. Touchdowns scored in overtime count toward the total, but successful two-point conversions do not. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to express their own independent assessments of the likelihood of a team scoring a touchdown. Over time, prediction market prices tend to be more accurate than traditional point spreads, as they are continuously updated based on new information and collective intelligence. However, initial sportsbook odds can provide a useful benchmark for comparison.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts. The price of a contract represents the probability of the event occurring – in this case, a team scoring a touchdown. As more people buy contracts predicting a touchdown, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price reflects the collective belief of all participants, and the market dynamically adjusts to incorporate new information and changing expectations about the game's potential scoring plays.
This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will be based on whether each team successfully scores at least one touchdown during the Minnesota vs Purdue game. Official game statistics and play-by-play data will be used to determine the outcome. The final price of contracts on Kalshi will reflect the actual occurrence of touchdowns by each team.
Several factors could influence the price of contracts in this market. News regarding key player injuries on either the Minnesota or Purdue teams would likely have a significant impact, as would updates on weather conditions that could affect the passing or running game. Changes in public perception, driven by expert analysis or pre-game commentary, could also shift trader sentiment. Finally, any in-game developments, such as early scoring drives or defensive stops, could lead to rapid price adjustments as traders react to the unfolding events.
