Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Opinion, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the underlying mechanisms. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while prediction markets rely on the collective intelligence of traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome. This can lead to prediction markets being more efficient and accurate, particularly as more information becomes available. However, sportsbook odds are readily accessible and often influence initial trading in prediction markets. It's common to see convergence as the event approaches, but discrepancies can still exist.
