Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often incorporating information and analysis beyond what’s readily available to sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, this market allows anyone to trade based on their own insights. Therefore, you might find that the implied probabilities in this market differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. It's common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes than traditional methods.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of each outcome. The price of a contract reflects the market’s collective assessment of that outcome’s likelihood. As more traders buy contracts for a particular team, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability of them winning the first half. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures the market stays responsive to new information and changing opinions, providing a real-time forecast of the game’s first-half winner.
