This market focuses on determining which team will score more points specifically in the third quarter of an upcoming college football game between Michigan State and Wisconsin. It provides a way to speculate on short-term performance during a particular segment of the game, rather than the overall outcome.
The market resolves based on which team scores more points during the third quarter of the designated Michigan State versus Wisconsin college football game. If Wisconsin scores more points in that quarter, the Wisconsin market resolves to Yes. If Michigan State scores more points, its market resolves to Yes. If both teams score an equal number of points, the Tie market resolves to Yes. For all markets, only points scored during the third quarter count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the market remains open and resolves based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market aggregates the opinions of many individual traders. It's common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges – for example, late-breaking news about player injuries. These differences can create opportunities for arbitrage, where traders seek to profit from price variations between the two types of markets.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of each outcome. The price of a contract directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy contracts for a particular team, the price increases, reflecting a higher perceived chance of victory. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market efficiently incorporates new information as traders react to news and adjust their positions, influencing the overall price discovery process.
This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the third-quarter winner of the Michigan State vs Wisconsin game will determine the result. The official game results, as reported by a trusted sports data source, will be used to determine which contracts will pay out. Traders who correctly predicted the third-quarter winner will receive a payout based on the contract price at resolution.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or changes to the starting lineup for either Michigan State or Wisconsin would likely cause price fluctuations. Unexpected weather conditions on game day could also influence trading activity. Furthermore, significant shifts in public sentiment, perhaps driven by pre-game analysis or expert predictions, could drive volume and alter the odds. Finally, any in-game developments during the first half of the game could lead to rapid adjustments in the market as traders react to the unfolding events.
