Generally, prediction markets like Kalshi often reflect information and opinions that differ from traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd. You may find that the implied probability from Kalshi differs from the odds offered at sportsbooks, potentially indicating disagreement about the likely outcome. It’s common to see prediction markets move more efficiently based on new information, as traders can react quickly to changing circumstances and adjust their positions accordingly. This can sometimes lead to more accurate predictions than traditional methods.

The current price of a contract reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that specific total occurring. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to set accurate prices, as they profit from correctly predicting the outcome. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices will adjust, providing a dynamic and real-time estimate of the expected points total. The volume of trading also indicates the level of confidence in a particular outcome.

Several factors could influence the price of contracts in this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Michigan or Michigan State would likely cause significant movement.
