This event tracks passing yard milestones for specific players in an upcoming football game between Miami and New York. The outcome depends on whether the designated player achieves certain yardage thresholds during the full game, including any overtime periods.
All markets resolve based on whether the specified player achieves the exact passing yard threshold stated in each market's primary rule during the full game, including overtime. Each contract is designated as protected: if the player participates in at least one play during the first half but none after halftime (including overtime), the contract resolves to the pre-game fair price unless the player meets the yardage requirement, in which case it settles based on actual statistics. If the player participates in any play after the first half, the contract settles based on actual statistics regardless of first-half involvement. Participation in a play nullified by penalty does not count, and a player who never participates is subject to the fair price non-participation rule. The protected designation applies only to full-game contracts with an above or at-least payout criterion.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome, potentially leading to more efficient pricing. While sportsbooks may initially have an edge due to quicker line setting, prediction markets often converge towards a more accurate probability as more information becomes available and trading volume increases.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different passing yard totals. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that specific outcome occurring. As more traders buy contracts for a particular yardage range, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived likelihood. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, providing a real-time assessment of expectations for the game's passing performance. This creates a fluid and responsive pricing mechanism.
This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official passing yardage statistics from the game between Miami and New York are verifiable from credible public reporting. The final passing yardage total, as reported by the official league statistics, will determine which contracts settle at 100, and which settle at 0. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the actual passing yardage will receive a payout, while those holding contracts for different yardage ranges will not.
Several factors could influence this market before it resolves. Any news regarding injuries to key quarterbacks or wide receivers on either team would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they predict heavy rain or strong winds, could also impact expectations for passing yardage. Late-breaking reports on team strategies or defensive adjustments could also shift the market. Finally, large trading volume from informed participants could signal new information or a change in sentiment, causing prices to adjust accordingly.
