A defensive or special teams touchdown happens when a team scores by returning an interception, fumble, kickoff, punt, or other special teams play for a touchdown. This market resolves positively if either Miami or Minnesota records such a touchdown during the game, counting those that occur in overtime, as long as the game begins within 48 hours of its original schedule.
If Miami or Minnesota record at least 1 defensive or special teams touchdown in the Miami vs Minnesota Pro Football game originally scheduled for Oct 4, 2026, then the market resolves to Yes.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the likelihood of the event. If a significant discrepancy exists, opportunities may arise for arbitrage – though transaction fees and settlement timing should be considered. It's common to see prediction markets move more quickly to incorporate new information than traditional sportsbooks, leading to potentially different probabilities.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of a defensive/special teams touchdown. The price of a contract ranges from 0 to 100, representing the implied probability of the event occurring. As more people buy contracts, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price reflects the collective assessment of all traders participating on Kalshi and is constantly updated based on supply and demand.
This market resolves around Oct 4, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, resolution will depend on whether either the Miami Dolphins or the Minnesota Vikings score a touchdown via their defense or special teams during the game. The final result will be determined by official game statistics and verified against credible public sources. Traders will be able to see the final outcome reflected in their account balances after the resolution process is complete.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. News regarding key defensive players for either team – such as injuries or suspensions – would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather conditions, particularly those that could favor defensive play or special teams returns, could also shift the market. Unexpected coaching decisions or strategic adjustments related to defensive or special teams schemes could also move the price. Finally, any late-breaking news or analysis regarding the offensive capabilities of either team could indirectly affect the perceived likelihood of a defensive/special teams score.
