This set of markets tracks the total points scored by both teams in the first quarter of a college football game. Participants predict whether the combined score will exceed specific thresholds, offering various levels of difficulty for forecasting early-game offensive performance.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams combined during the first quarter of the Miami (FL) vs North Carolina college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. Each market has a different threshold for resolution, ranging from more than 2.5 points to more than 27.5 points. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the actual result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored in the first quarter count toward these markets. Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines due to the influence of public opinion and information aggregation. Sportsbooks set lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market incorporates a broader range of perspectives as traders buy and sell contracts. It’s common to see prediction market prices move closer to the actual outcome as the event approaches, potentially offering a more accurate forecast than traditional odds, though discrepancies can persist due to differing incentives and market dynamics.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, where traders submit bids and asks for contracts. The price of a contract represents the probability of that outcome occurring—for example, a price of 60 means a 60% implied probability. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades are rewarded. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price adjusts dynamically based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective beliefs of all participants regarding the total points scored in the first quarter of the game.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final point total scored in the first quarter of the Miami vs North Carolina game will be used to determine whether the ‘over’ or ‘under’ contract wins. The resolution will be based on official game statistics, ensuring a transparent and objective outcome. Traders holding the winning contracts will receive a payout based on the contract's price at resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Late-breaking news regarding key player injuries for either Miami or North Carolina would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they impact offensive strategies, could also shift expectations. Furthermore, any pre-game analysis suggesting a dramatically different scoring pace than initially anticipated could drive trading activity. Public perception and betting trends in traditional sportsbooks can also indirectly affect the price as information flows between different wagering venues.
