Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while this market’s prices are driven by traders directly expressing their beliefs about the likelihood of each team scoring first. If there's significant public disagreement with the sportsbook's assessment, you may see divergence in the odds. It’s common to observe prediction markets reacting more quickly to new information and potentially offering more accurate probabilities as the event approaches.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the crowd. The market’s depth – the number of shares available at different price points – also indicates the level of confidence and potential for price movement.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The market will determine which team – MFK Ružomberok or MŠK Žilina – scored the first goal in the match. The resolution will be based on official match data and records, ensuring an objective and verifiable result. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final outcome of the game and their positions in this market.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding team lineups, key player injuries, or changes in coaching strategy for either Ružomberok or Žilina would likely cause movement. Unexpected weather conditions on match day could also play a role. Furthermore, significant betting activity in traditional sportsbooks, or even shifts in public sentiment expressed on social media, could impact trading behavior and subsequently the odds on Polymarket. Monitoring these signals can help traders assess potential opportunities.
