Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks may set initial lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, while this market incorporates the collective insights of numerous traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information access, biases, or risk appetites. If a significant difference exists between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it might suggest that market participants possess information not fully reflected in the sportsbook's pricing. It’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are derived from different sources.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price reflects the aggregated sentiment of all participants, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event's likelihood. This contrasts with fixed-odds betting, where odds are set by a bookmaker and remain static until the event concludes.

This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official result of the Maslovskyi vs. Maksymkiv match, as determined by the governing sports organization. The platform will verify the result against publicly available sources to ensure accuracy and transparency. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will receive a payout equivalent to 1 USDC per share, while shares in the losing outcome will be worth 0 USDC. The final outcome will be reported on Polymarket.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Any news regarding player form, injuries, or changes in coaching strategy could impact trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements related to the match schedule or venue could also create volatility. Public opinion, as reflected in polls or expert analysis, might also play a role, though the market isn’t directly tied to those sources. Major upsets in related matches or tournaments could also indirectly affect the perceived probabilities, leading to adjustments in the market price on Polymarket.
