This market focuses on determining which team will score more points in the final quarter of a college football matchup. It provides a way to speculate on the momentum and performance of each team specifically in the last period of play, excluding any overtime periods. The outcome depends solely on the points scored during that designated timeframe.
The market resolves based on which team scores the most points during the fourth quarter of the designated college football game, excluding overtime. If Ohio State scores more points in the fourth quarter, the market resolves to Yes for Ohio State. If Maryland scores more points in the fourth quarter, the market resolves to Yes for Maryland. If both teams score the same number of points in the fourth quarter, the market resolves to Yes for the Tie outcome. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original scheduled start time, the market remains active and resolves according to the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, the market resolves to a fair price. Only points scored during the fourth quarter—excluding overtime—are considered for resolution purposes.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which can be influenced by factors like house biases or initial public perception. Sportsbooks may also adjust lines more slowly than this market responds to new information, such as injuries or changing game dynamics. While sportsbooks set odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, this market incorporates a broader range of perspectives and real-time adjustments as traders react to unfolding events. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially closer to the event’s conclusion.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. The price of a contract reflects the current market consensus on that outcome’s likelihood. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly, creating a dynamic representation of expectations. The market depth indicates the volume of buy and sell orders at different price points, providing insight into the strength of conviction behind various predictions.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the winner of the fourth quarter of the Maryland vs Ohio State game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official game results as reported by a trusted sports data source. It's important to note that the market will close prior to the official result to allow for price discovery to finalize, and the final price will reflect the market's prediction of the fourth quarter winner. Traders should monitor the market closely as the game progresses.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Maryland or Ohio State would likely cause price fluctuations. In-game performance during the first three quarters, such as a significant lead by one team or a change in momentum, will also drive trading activity. Unexpected weather conditions or referee decisions could also play a role. Finally, any late-breaking news or analysis from sports commentators could influence trader sentiment and shift the odds as the game approaches its final quarter.
