Differences in prices between Polymarket and Kalshi for the Maryland vs. South Carolina game can arise from several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has a different user base with varying levels of expertise and access to information, leading to differing opinions. Trading mechanisms and fee structures also play a role; for instance, one platform might attract more sophisticated traders willing to take on greater risk. Furthermore, the volume traded on each platform can influence price discovery, with higher volume generally leading to more efficient pricing. These factors combine to create potentially distinct probabilities for the same event.
