Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to freely express their beliefs about the probability of each team scoring first in the second half. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply variations in opinion. Observing these differences can sometimes reveal opportunities for informed traders, but it's important to remember that both represent probabilities, not guarantees.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the likelihood of either Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur scoring first in the second half. The market's efficiency is driven by the incentive for traders to accurately predict the outcome and profit from correct predictions.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the second half of the Manchester United vs. Tottenham match. The official match records will serve as the basis for determining the winning outcome. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final result and their positions in this market.

Several factors could influence the odds in this market before the match concludes. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team formations or tactical approaches announced before kickoff could also shift expectations. Even the weather conditions on match day might play a role, potentially favoring one team's style of play over the other. Any significant news or developments related to the teams involved could cause movement in this market.
