Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely express their beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced the probability of a team scoring first in the second half, the odds on Polymarket will adjust accordingly. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks, especially when there’s strong public information or a clear edge to be found.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the market’s expectation of which team will score first in the second half. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price will fluctuate, providing a dynamic assessment of the potential outcome. The current price indicates the collective prediction of all traders on the platform.

This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team—Manchester United or Bournemouth—scores the first goal in the second half of the match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final result and their positions in this market.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Manchester United or Bournemouth would likely cause significant movement. Tactical changes announced by either manager, or even pre-match analysis highlighting a team’s attacking strengths, could also shift trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even a significant shift in public opinion as reflected in polls, could also contribute to changes in the odds on Polymarket.
