Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on expert analysis and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows anyone to trade based on their own insights. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both platforms. However, it’s important to remember that prediction market odds are dynamic and change based on trading activity, potentially converging with sportsbook odds as the event approaches.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price of a share represents the market’s assessment of that outcome’s likelihood. The market is driven entirely by supply and demand; no external factors directly influence the pricing beyond trader behavior. This creates a dynamic and responsive price discovery process.

This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team, Manchester City or Brighton & Hove Albion, scores the first goal in the second half of the match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. The platform will then finalize the outcome and distribute payouts to those who correctly predicted the first team to score in the second half.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Manchester City or Brighton & Hove Albion would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team formations or tactical approaches announced before the match could also move the market. Furthermore, general news about team performance or morale, as well as any unexpected events during the first half of the match, could all contribute to price fluctuations in this market up until Oct 31, 2026.
