Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on expert analysis and then adjust based on betting action, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If there's a significant discrepancy, it might indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced the probability of a particular team scoring first. It’s worth comparing the implied probabilities from both sources to identify potential value.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people trade, the price adjusts to reflect the collective intelligence of the crowd. The market is driven by supply and demand; if many traders believe Manchester City will score first, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase.

This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team – Manchester City or Brighton & Hove Albion – scores the first goal in the first half of the match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. The platform will then distribute payouts to those who correctly predicted the first team to score.
