It's common to see differences between prediction market odds and those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their odds to maximize profit, factoring in a margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. If a significant disparity exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by betting on both venues. However, it’s important to remember that prediction markets are often more efficient at incorporating new information quickly, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities than sportsbook odds.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about whether Malmo FF or Hammarby IF will score first. As more shares are bought for one outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of shares directly reflects the implied probability of each team scoring first, and the market aims to converge towards the true probability as the event approaches. The current volume for this market is $5.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. It’s important to note that any goals disallowed due to offsides or other infractions will not be considered for resolution purposes. Traders should monitor official sources for the final result.
