Prediction market odds often offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the wisdom of the crowd. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply a larger number of participants analyzing the event. If you find a significant difference between the odds on Polymarket and those offered by sportsbooks, it could indicate an opportunity for value betting, depending on your own assessment of the fighters’ chances.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome – either Pol Martin Tiffon winning or Francisco Rocha winning. As more shares are traded, the price of each share adjusts to reflect the collective probability assigned by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring, allowing traders to express their views and potentially profit from accurate predictions.
